Our Experience at the 2026 Midwest HoneyBee Expo
Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Midwest HoneyBee Expo in Madison, Wisconsin, and it was an experience that left us feeling inspired, energized, and excited for the future of beekeeping.
As beekeepers, we're always looking for ways to expand our knowledge and improve our practices. The Expo brought together beekeepers from across the Midwest, creating a space where beginners and seasoned beekeepers alike could learn, connect, and share their passion for honey bees.
Throughout the event, we attended educational sessions led by industry experts who covered a wide range of topics, including hive management, honey bee health, pest control, seasonal colony care, and the latest research affecting beekeepers today. Each presentation offered valuable insights that we were able to bring home and apply to our own apiary.
One of the highlights of the Expo was meeting fellow beekeepers and hearing their experiences. Beekeeping can often feel like a solitary endeavor, so having the opportunity to connect with others who understand the challenges and rewards of caring for honey bees was incredibly valuable. We exchanged ideas, discussed successes and setbacks, and gained new perspectives that will help us continue growing as beekeepers.
The vendor area was another favorite part of the event. We explored a variety of products, equipment, and innovations designed to support modern beekeeping. From hive tools and protective gear to educational resources and honey processing equipment, there was no shortage of opportunities to discover new products and learn from experienced suppliers.
Beyond the educational sessions and exhibits, the Expo served as a reminder of the important role honey bees play in our environment and food systems. Seeing so many individuals dedicated to pollinator health reinforced the importance of responsible beekeeping and ongoing education.
We returned home with new ideas, practical knowledge, and a renewed appreciation for the beekeeping community. The 2026 Midwest HoneyBee Expo proved to be more than just a conference—it was an opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate the incredible world of honey bees.
We're grateful for the experience and look forward to applying what we learned throughout the coming beekeeping season.
